i completely disagree on both accounts. first, they were showing a new generation of fans one of the greatest rappers ever, somebody they were actually close to, loved, respected, etc. second, if they felt dumb as fuck then they wouldn't have done it. they didn't NEED to do that show, or any show nowadays, they're 40+ years old and multi-millionaires.

i think they were happy to keep the memory of Pac alive even more, and not only that, it was a great performance. it was a way to bring Pac back again for all the people who miss him, and a way for younger people to experience him for the first time. i don't see why Dre and Snoop would feel dumb as fuck about that, and i don't think they did.

that whole intro before the song started wasnt even his voice

i lol'd at this.. of course it wasn't his voice?! unless you wanted a tupac version of stephen hawking, putting together different clips of different syllables spoken by pac himself, it's never gunna be his real voice. derp derp. overall it was a pretty accurate depiction of tupac, or as close as they could have got.

that hologram apparently came close to 10 million dollars. i highly doubt coachella work fork out 10 mil for 5 minutes or so of a fake pac.. dre and snoop are probably worth more than the festival itself, so it wouldn't be too left field to think that they paid for the whole thing themselves. i'm sure they wouldn't have paid all that money if they thought it would make them feel 'dumb'.. snoop sure as hell looked like he was enjoying it. it was a legendary moment in the history of the festival.. of any festival ever for that matter.

it was genius.

"Doesn't the hologram of Tupac at Coachella say more about the current state of hip-hop than the current state of technology?"

not at all. it was a set headlined by two legends, and it was used to bring back a third. it wasn't bringing back tupac simply because he's better than aything else out there right now, since there's been no progression.. in this same set, dre and snoop brought out kendrick lamar and wiz khalifa. they showed love to the old and the new. they did something that had never been done before.

people taking things way outta context to try and interpret this as a negative.
